The Three Candy Corn Jars
In my favorite shopping mall downtown there is a specialty shop that's bound to please anybody's sweet tooth. It's a candy store called Candylandia.In this store you can find just about any kind of candy your tastebuds would savor.
One favorite and traditional candy is the candy corn. Candylandia sells candy corn in three different-sized jars: small, medium, and large. The owner, who loves fairy tales too, calls them the Baby Bean jar, the Mama Bean jar, and the Papa Bean jar, respectively.
Strange as it may seem, each jar of a given size always contains the same number of candy corn as any other jar of that size.
One day, Mrs. Goldie Lochs brought her 9-year-old set of triplets, who had a big craving for candy corn, into the store. Each child (Allen, Bradley, and Charles) bought two different jars of candy corns, but none of the combinations were the same. At home, the children decided to count the number of corns that they had purchased.
Allen announced, avidly, "I have 157 candy corns!"
Bradley boasted boldly, "But I have 47 more than you do, so there!"
Charles chimed in, calmly, "Well, I have 112 less than you two guys have together, but I'm not complaining."
Using this unusual collection of information, please tell me how many candy corns are placed in each jar. Be careful to properly identify any variables you use. State your equations and describe in words how you solved the problem. Then give your equations and work them out for us.
Good Luck,
Ms. L.

Solution:
What I noticed this week was many people did not read the problem carefully. It stated that each child bought two (2) jars each. You needed to give the size of the two jars and the total amount of candy. You all gave me the total but not the size of the jars. I also noticed many of you posted as partners. If you do not see your posting please come and see me.
Ms. L.
Allen has 157 candy corns with the combination of a small jar and a
medium jar. A small jar contains 56 candy corns, and a medium jar
contains 101.
56 + 101 + 157
Brad has 204 candy corns with the combination of a small jar and a
large jar. A small jar contains 56 candy corns, and a large jar
contains 148.
56 + 148 = 204
Charles has 249 candy corns with the combination of a medium jar and
a large jar. A medium jar contains 101 candy corns, and a large jar
contains 148.
101 + 148 = 249

• If Allen has 157, and Bradley says he has 47 more than Allen then you have to add 154 to 47, so that’s how Badley has 240!
• And since Charles has112 less than both of them together, you have to subtract 240 from 112, witch is 92.
Allen-157
Bradley-204
Charles-92

I did 157-47 because Bradley said he had 47 less than Allen I got 110. Then I added 110 with 157 and got 267 then I subtracted 112 because Charles said he had 112 less than the two of them and I got 155.therefore Bradley’s jar contained 157 candy corns. Allen’s jar contained 110 and Charles’s jar contained 155

Allen has 157
Bradley has 47 more than Allen
Charles has 122 less than them both
Allen and Bradley:
157+47=204
Charles:
204-122=92
Okay, what I did was read how many candy corns they had, and Allen said he had 157, and I added 157 and 47 together because Bradley said he had 47 more than him. And I got 204. Then I subtracted 204 and 122 because Charles has less than them two. And I got 92 as my answer.

Candy corn small, medium, large.
Each set of candy corn contains the same number of candy corn.
Allen got 157 pieces of candy corn
Bradley had 47 more than Allen. So, I added
157 plus 47 and that equals 204
Bradley had 204 pieces of candy corn
Charles had 112 pieces of candy corn less than both of them put together. So I added the amount together and then subtracted 112.
157 plus 204 and that equals 361
361 minus 112 equals 249
Charles had 249 pieces of candy
They each got 2 jars of candy corn so I divided each by 2.
Allen got 2 small jars of candy corn.
Bradley got 2 medium jars of candy corn
Charles got 2 large jars of candy corn

Allen-79 (157/2)
Bradley-102 (157+47=204/2)
Charles-125 (152+204=361-112/2)
I got these answers by Allen’s number of candy corn which was 157. Then, I added 47 because Bradley said he had 47 more than Allen. So with Charles, I added 157 and 204 together and got 361 then subtracted 112 because he said he had 112 less than them put together. Then divided by two because they all have 2 jars.

Allen-79

I got these answers by divining each number by 2 then adding 47 to Allen’s number 157 then subtract 112 from it

Each child bought two different jars of candy corns. [Each jar of a given size always contains the exact same amount as any other jar of the same size.] Allen says he has 157 candy corns, Bradley says he has 47 more than Allen, and Charles says he has 112 less than both of those children have together.
Allen has a total of 157 candy corns. (Supposedly bought medium-sized jars)
Bradley has a total of 204 candy corns.[157+47] (Supposedly bought large-sized jars)
Charles has a total of 92 candy corns.[204-112] (Supposedly bought small-sized jars)
To find how much candy corn is in each jar for the three children respectively [2 jars each], divide the number of candy corn they have in total by two.
Allen: 157 / 2 = 78.5 (in each medium jar)
Bradley: 204 / 2 = 102 (in each large jar)
Charles: 92 / 2 = 46 (in each small jar)
Allen has 157 candy corns (It says in the problem).
Then I did 157 + 47 = 204 to get how many candy corns Bradley has.
Bradley has 204 candy corns.
Then I did 204 – 112 = 92 to find how many candy corns Charles has.
Charles has 92 candy corns.
Since each kid has two jars I have to divide my answer by 2.
157/2 = 78.5 Allen has 78.5 candy corns in each jar.
204/2 = 102 Bradley has 102 candy corns in each jar.
92/2 = 46 Charles has 46 candy corns in each jar.
Allen has 2 medium jars.
Bradley has 2 large jars.
Charles has 2 small jars.

Allen has 157 candy corns which is a small jar of candy corn. I got this answer because they tell you in the problem.
Bradley has a medium jar of candy corn, which has 204 candy corns. First I saw that the problem said Bradley had more then Allen so I added 47 to what Allen had.
157+47= 204
Charles has a large jar of candy corn, which has 249 candy corns. I added Allen’s amount of candy corn and Bradley’s amount which was 361. Then I subtracted 112 from 361 and then that was my answer.
157+204=361
361-112=249
Large=has 249 candy corns
Medium=has 204 candy corns
Small=has 157 candy corns
C.G.
Allen has157 candy corns in the small jar
Bradley has 47 more candy corns than Allen which means that Bradley has 204 candy corns
Charles said has 112 less than both Allen and Bradley added together so he has 249 candy corns
Example: [204+157-112=249]
This proves that there are 157 candy corns in the small jar, 204 in the medium sized jar and 249 in the large jar
J.G
Allen has a small jar that has 157 candy corns in it. Bradley has 204 candy corns in his medium jar. I got that because he said that he has 47 more candy corns than Allen. 157+47=204. Charles has a large jar which has 249. I got this because Charles said that he has 112 less than Allen and Bradley combined. Combined Allen and Bradley have 361 candy corns. 157+204=361. 361-112= 249. so Charles has a large jar.
Large has: 249 candy corns.
Medium has: 204 candy corns.
Small has: 157 candy corns.

Allen- 157/2=78.5
Bradley- 157+47=204 204/2=102
Charles- (157+204)-112=249 249/2=124.5
I got my answers by using the statements from the problem said by Allen, Bradley, and Charles. Allen said he had 157 candy corns, so I divided 157 by 2 and got 78.5 because the problem said that they each got two jars each. Bradley said he had 47 more than Allen, so I added 47 to 157 and then divided it by 2 and got 102. Charles said he had 112 less than the both of their total amounts together, so I added 157 and 204 then subtracted 112 and got 249; then I divided 249 by 2 and got 124.5. So in Allen’s jars each has 78.5 candy corns, in Bradley’s each has 102 candy corns, and in Charles’s jars each has 124.5 candy corns.
there are 92 candy corns in a jar
y=mx+b y=3x+92 the way I got my answer was doing 157+47-112=92 and for the equation I did 3 jars and the amount that I got and got my answer a.p
Answer:
Allen has the medium bowl which means that he has 157 candies in his bowl .
Bradley has the largest bowls out of the 3 so he has 204 candies in his bowl.
So that means that he has the smallest bowl he has 92 candies in his bowl.
K.M.
am1 subtracted 157 out of 47 because Bradley said that he had 47 less than Allen then I got 110. then I added 157 and I got 267 after that I subtracted 112 because Charlie said he got less than both of them the I got 150 candy corns Allen’s jar contain 112 and Charlie’s jar had155.

WHAT I DID IS I ADDED 157+47 ANDS GOT 204 THEN - 112 FROM 204 AND GOT 92
Allen has a jar of 157 candy.
Bradley has 47 more candy in his jar than Allen.
Charles has 112 less candy than Allen and Bradley.

Allen-157 candy corns
Bradley-205 To find Bradley’s amount of candy corn I added Allen’s total amount to 47, since Bradley said he had 47 more than Allen.
Charles-249
To find Charles answer. I added Allen’s total amount by Bradley total amount and subtracted 112 to that since he said that he had 112 less then them if they add there’s both together and found my answer.
Candy corn jars- Small jar (Baby Bean Jar), Medium Jar (Mama Bean Jar), Large Jar (Papa Bean Jar)
After I found the total amount of candy corns for each person I divided each of them by 2 since each of them get two jars.
Allen has about 79 in each jar.
Bradley has about 103 in each jar
Charles has about 125 in each jar.
I subtracted 157 out of 47 because Bradley said that he had 47 less than allen then oi got 110 the then I added 157 and I got 267 after that I subtracted 112 bececase Charlie said he got less than both of them I got 150 candy corns … allens jar contains 112 and charlies jar had 155.

Allen= 157 he has the small jar.
Bradley=204 he has the medium jar.
Charles=249 he has the large jar.
First to find out the answer I read the question and to find out Allen It gave me the answer to Allen candy jar which is 157 then I added 47 to Bradley’s candy’s and it was 204 the to find Charles you have add bradlys and Allen together to find Charles which is 249 and that’s how I found out the answer to this question.

Bradley=204
Allen=157
Charles=249
All that I did was look at the very end of the word problem. (Pasted above) It says that Allen has 157 candy corns. Bradley said that he has 47 more. 157+47= Bradley’s number of candy corns. That number is 204. Charles number was both of theirs added together minus 112. So I added Bradley’s and Allen’s and I got the number 361. That is Charles candy corn number.
Small – Allen
Medium- Bradley
Large- Charles
A .W.
Bradley = 204
Allen = 157
Charles = 249
you have to do is that Bradley has 207 candy corns so you have to add 157 that is how much Allen has then you have to sub. 112 = 249
small: Allen
medium: Bradley
Large: Charles
