Transportation to Tempe

I need to rent a car for Megan to get to school.  Luxury for Less charges $21.59 plus 14 cents per mile.   Cheap Chariots charges $18.25 plus 22 cents per mile.   At first glance it looks as if I should go with Cheap Chariots.  Still, I'm concerned about the per-mile charge because Megan does a lot of driving. It is more than 30 miles to ASU from my house alone.

  1. Determine how many miles would Megan have to drive to make the cost of renting a car from Cheap Chariots the same as the cost of renting a car from Luxury for Less?
  2. Explain which company you think I should rent a car for Megan’s from and why you think it is a better deal.
  3. Please read the problem carefully. Be sure that you give all the details of your solution, including all the comparisons that you make in order to determine the answer.

1. The two companies won’t be the same price anywhere, but they will be only two cents apart at the 42 mile mark.

2. Well if you’re going to rent a car for Megan, you should go with Cheap Chariots since they cost less than the Luxury for Less. If you’re planning on going 42 miles or more you should go with Luxury for Less.

$25.75 is the cost for luxury for less for 30 miles. For 35 miles it is only $26.35 at 35 miles. For cheap chariots it is $25.95 which is only 15 cents more than luxury for less cost for 30 miles. I think that you should go with cheap chariots because although the cost per mile is higher. The start up cost is so low that I doesn’t make a difference. But if you wanted to go 42 miles or more you should go with luxury for less. 

1.) I did a table in excel and put down the formula. They have the same cost at 16 miles. Then after that cheap Chariots’ price gets higher.

2.) I think that you should rent a car from “Luxury for Less” because she has to drive from home to school and then back home which would be more then 60 miles. And it would cost cheaper by 2 dollars at 60 miles for “Luxury for Less.”

According to me, I’m suggesting that sense it’s taking Megan that long to go to the ASU then I’m thinking she should take the Cheap Chariots because it’s costing her $18.47 if she got that deal with the car thingy and its way cheaper compare to Luxury for Less. Luxury for Less is costing $21.73 for just going to ASU with that kind of deal, and if I was Meagan I would choose The Cheap Chariots because it’s cheaper, and it’s really not that bad for the deal that they have, or something like that.

Well my guess for the shape problem is that X= 1.6. Well one of the reasons I thought the answer was 1.6 was because if you divide 12.8 with 8 the answer would be 1.6 I think all you need to do was divide to of the sides that all ready had the numbers on it and that’s my guess.

18.25 + 6.60 = $24.85 + 6.60= $31.45

Cheap Chariots charges 22 cents per mile so it is 6.60 for the trip to school so you need another $6.60 for the trip back home and it has a lower cost than Luxury for Less.

$21.59 + 4.20= 25.79+ 4.20=29.99

Luxury for Less charges 14 cents per mile so it is 4.20 for 30 miles and another 4.20 for the ride back home.

So I would recommend Luxury for Less because it has a lower final price than Cheap Chariots. It is a better deal than Cheap Chariots because it has lower cost for the Per Mile Charge .

Since she likes to drive a lot she should take the Luxury For Less because to ASU and back it’s only 29.99 as for cheap chariots it’s 31.45 there and back.
30x14=420 21.59+4.20=25.79 that was for CC to ASU only but she likes to drive a lot so I multiplied to there and back so I times 60x14=840 21.59+8.40=29.99 and so LFL I did 30x22=660 18.25+660=24.85 but I thought she likes to drive so what I did was 60x22=13.20 18.25+13.20=31.45.

Since she likes driving a lot she should get to take the luxury for less because to a.s.u. and back it should be only 29.99 as for cheap chariots its 31.34 there and back.

1.) 30 x 14= 4.20
2.) 30 x 22= 6.60
So then you add 4.20 to 21.54 it would be 25.79
So then you add 6.60 to 18.25 it would be 24.85
D.R. period 2

1. The cost of renting from Cheap Chariots or Luxury for Less will never be the same amount of money. The numbers won't meet or be the same, there wouldn’t be a number of miles that would show that the rent cost from Cheap Chariots to be the same as Luxury for Less.
2. I think the best choice would be to rent a car from Luxury for Less, because if you drive a lot of miles then it’s a better deal. If you drive 42 miles (or more) that’s when Luxury for Less’s price becomes cheaper than Cheap Chariots’s price.
3. I made my solution by making a table with three columns, Number of miles, Luxury for Less, and Cheap Chariots. By looking at the table I saw that when someone would drive 41 miles Cheap Chariots price was cheaper than Luxury’s. Luxury for Less’s price was 27.33 and Cheap Chariots’s price was 27.27. But then at 42 miles Luxury for Less had the cheaper price. At 42 miles Luxury for Less had 27.47 and Cheap Chariots had 27.49. Luxury for Less continued having the cheaper price after 42 miles. This means that if someone drives a lot then Luxury for Less would be a better deal.

Aw

Luxury for less

Charges 21.59 dollars plus 14 cent per mile

21.59 + 14 x 30 = 441.59 dollars

Cheap chariots

Charges 18.25 dollars plus 22 cents per mile

18.25 + 22 x 30 = 678.25

I would use luxury for less is better then cheap chariots there is a 236.66 dollars difference
